Coronavirus (COVID-19)

March, 25, 2020

All updates relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found on this page.

The wellbeing of families using our centre and staff is paramount. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information comes to hand.

COVID-19 Update 2

March, 22, 2020

In light of tonight’s COVID-19 “stage 1” announcement by the Prime Minister we have made the difficult decision to put our classes on hold whilst we seek clarification from our governing body.

Your families’ and our staff’s safety is our top priority.

We will provide a further update as information comes to hand. Please be patient as our staff are working hard in this unprecedented situation.

Email sent to families in response to the closure:

We just wanted to touch base with all our customers as we know this is a stressful time for everyone, especially with lots of information and misinformation in the media at the moment. While the COVID-19 “stage 1” recommendations made by the NSW Premier and the Prime Minister over the last 24 hours are ambiguous for learn to swim centres, we have made the hard decision to stop all classes for the immediate future.  At present, we are planning to remain closed until the beginning of Term 2 2020 (Monday 27th April), however we will keep you updated as the situation evolves and we become more informed.

Families with children enrolled in Term 1 will automatically receive a family credit for the remaining lessons of this term. These credits will remain on file for 12 months from our date of reopen. We would like to assure all of our families that you will not be charged for any lessons that cannot run due to this closure. In the unlikely event that we need to extend school holidays and delay the start of Term 2, the same measures apply in regards to fees.

Class placements for Term 2 will be released to all customers electronically.  Due to the enormity of this task it may take a little more time than originally planned so we ask for your patience.

Thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time. If you have any immediate questions, please let us know via email or through the app due to the high volume of calls we are receiving at the moment. We will continue to update the app and our Facebook page with any future developments. We are all in this together and it will pass, so just remember to keep calm, wash your hands, and support one another.

Kind regards,

Maree & Rod

COVID-19 Update

March, 15, 2020

The health of all who use our centre is our number one priority. We would like to provide an update on the actions we are taking to mitigate risks as they relate to our operations and our customers.

We will never knowingly put the health of our students, our customers, their family or our staff at risk.

The NSW Health website currently states (as at 11.00am Sunday 15 March 2020):
“The advice on mass gatherings does not apply to attendance at schools, universities or child care centres. While all Australians are encouraged to exercise personal responsibility for social distancing, there are no current restrictions recommended on attending other settings”

There is no current advice to avoid small gatherings or stop going to school, childcare or sport and recreational activities such as swimming lessons.

We have enacted a plan for these challenging times and will be guided by advice provided by the Federal Government and NSW Health in relation to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

We are extremely conscious of hygiene at the pool at any time and have, in line with recommendations, ramped up our cleaning and hygiene routines. We would like to remind all users of the centre that we have soap in the change rooms for hand washing and automatic hand sanitisers on pool deck. We urge all parents and children to use these facilities while in the centre. We also ask children or parents who may have a slight cold (not coronavirus) to not attend classes to minimise the risk of spreading any germs. Due to the evolving situation we have made the decision to extend the timeframe for makeup lessons from Term 1 into Term 2 in place of our usual makeup policy.

In reviewing our frequently used surfaces, the exit button has been identified as a high traffic touch point. We will be placing an additional hand sanitiser next to the button for your use and moving the button closer to the desk staff so they can operate it for patrons. This along with several other surfaces have been identified as surfaces that will be cleaned multiple times during each session, in addition to our usual cleaning practices.

We are currently reviewing the school holiday program and will communicate any changes when a decision has been reached.

There is no question these are worrying times, but together with calm and sensible responses and accepting sound advice from the Health Department, we will all get through this.
