The health of all who use our centre is our number one priority. We would like to provide an update on the actions we are taking to mitigate risks as they relate to our operations and our customers.
We will never knowingly put the health of our students, our customers, their family or our staff at risk.
The NSW Health website currently states (as at 11.00am Sunday 15 March 2020):
“The advice on mass gatherings does not apply to attendance at schools, universities or child care centres. While all Australians are encouraged to exercise personal responsibility for social distancing, there are no current restrictions recommended on attending other settings”
There is no current advice to avoid small gatherings or stop going to school, childcare or sport and recreational activities such as swimming lessons.
We have enacted a plan for these challenging times and will be guided by advice provided by the Federal Government and NSW Health in relation to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
We are extremely conscious of hygiene at the pool at any time and have, in line with recommendations, ramped up our cleaning and hygiene routines. We would like to remind all users of the centre that we have soap in the change rooms for hand washing and automatic hand sanitisers on pool deck. We urge all parents and children to use these facilities while in the centre. We also ask children or parents who may have a slight cold (not coronavirus) to not attend classes to minimise the risk of spreading any germs. Due to the evolving situation we have made the decision to extend the timeframe for makeup lessons from Term 1 into Term 2 in place of our usual makeup policy.
In reviewing our frequently used surfaces, the exit button has been identified as a high traffic touch point. We will be placing an additional hand sanitiser next to the button for your use and moving the button closer to the desk staff so they can operate it for patrons. This along with several other surfaces have been identified as surfaces that will be cleaned multiple times during each session, in addition to our usual cleaning practices.
We are currently reviewing the school holiday program and will communicate any changes when a decision has been reached.
There is no question these are worrying times, but together with calm and sensible responses and accepting sound advice from the Health Department, we will all get through this.
